Indian authorities have arrested 18 suspects, including 16 Nigerian nationals, during a police raid on a farmhouse in Gurugram, Haryana, over alleged illegal gambling and unlicensed liquor activities.
The operation was carried out on Monday, December 22, 2025, at a property located in Bhondsi, following intelligence reports of a large gathering of foreign nationals. Police said cash totalling ₹3.2 lakh was recovered at the scene, alongside imported liquor packed in 24 cartons and beer estimated to be worth about ₹5 lakh.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Hitesh Yadav, officers stormed the farmhouse after receiving information that the owner and manager had organised an illegal party. Both individuals were, however, absent during the raid.
Yadav said the foreign nationals were unable to produce valid passports or visas when requested, adding that they were residing in different parts of Delhi before gathering at the farmhouse for the event.
Investigators alleged that gambling activities were ongoing at the venue, while liquor was being served on a commercial scale without a licence, in violation of state excise laws. Two bouncers identified as Brahm Prakash and Santosh Kumar were also arrested for allegedly facilitating the activities but were later granted bail.
“The owner and employees of the farmhouse were found to be abetting gambling for the foreign nationals,” Yadav said, noting that the 16 Nigerians would be produced before a court and that deportation procedures would be initiated.
Police have registered an FIR against the farmhouse owner, manager, bouncers and the foreign nationals under the Foreigners Act, the Punjab Excise (Haryana Amendment) Act, the Haryana Prevention of Public Gambling Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Authorities also announced plans to intensify surveillance on farmhouses, clubs and similar venues ahead of New Year celebrations.
