Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian, DeeOne, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying he cannot secure victory in the 2027 presidential election through “sympathy votes.”

DeeOne made the remarks in a viral Instagram video on Saturday while reacting to the emergence of the City Boy Movement, a political support group backing President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid.

The group, reportedly established by Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, is said to have attracted some former Obi supporters as coordinators across parts of the South-East.

In the video, DeeOne urged Obi to reassess his political strategy, particularly his stance on campaign spending. He criticised Obi’s popular slogan, “We no dey give shishi,” arguing that financial commitment is crucial in a presidential race.

According to the comedian, sympathy and public goodwill may have provided Obi momentum in the 2023 election but would not be sufficient in 2027. He also alleged that some Labour Party agents during the last general election lacked basic welfare at polling units, claiming that rival parties provided food and water in certain instances.

DeeOne advised that if personal funds are insufficient, Obi should mobilise supporters to donate transparently toward his political ambition.

He maintained that offering constructive criticism does not equate to disloyalty, but rather reflects a desire to see the former Anambra State governor mount a stronger campaign in the next election cycle.
