The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected any proposed alliance or collaboration with political parties in the state, declaring that its faction remains the authentic structure of the party.
The faction, backed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, also dismissed an announcement by a rival faction led by Turaki that it had collapsed its structures into the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The PDP described the development as “good riddance to bad rubbish” and insisted that those behind the move no longer represented the party’s legitimate structure in Bauchi.
Speaking to journalists at the party’s state secretariat along Maiduguri Road on Tuesday, PDP State Chairman Ibrahim Kashim Toro said his faction remained the authentic PDP in the state.
Toro cited court judgments which he said supported his faction’s claim to legitimacy.
The disagreement reflects the deepening internal crisis within the PDP as different factions continue to battle over the party’s structure and political direction ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Bauchi dispute is also connected to the wider national struggle within the PDP, where political camps aligned with different influential figures have continued to disagree over leadership, alliances and the party’s future.
Wike, who has repeatedly criticised efforts by some opposition politicians to restructure political alliances ahead of 2027, has maintained influence among a group of PDP leaders and stakeholders.
The Bauchi faction’s rejection of the reported APM alliance therefore represents another significant development in the ongoing realignment of political forces ahead of the next general election.
With political parties already intensifying preparations, further defections, alliances and counter-alliances are expected in the months ahead.
