Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has stepped up political mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, engaging youths and representatives of support groups across the state.
Alia met with Benue youths and representatives of various support organisations from the state’s 23 local government areas at the IBB Square in Makurdi.
The gathering was used to rally support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election and reinforce the All Progressives Congress’ political structure in the state.
The governor’s mobilisation effort comes at a politically sensitive moment in Benue following a dispute surrounding Peter Obi’s recent attempt to visit communities affected by deadly attacks.
Alia and his administration have faced criticism from Obi’s camp over the incident, while the Benue Government has rejected allegations that it deliberately obstructed the NDC presidential candidate.
The latest mobilisation signals the APC’s determination to strengthen its grassroots structure in Benue ahead of the next general election.
Alia has previously expressed confidence that Benue would provide stronger electoral support for Tinubu in 2027.
With political activity already increasing across the state, the contest for Benue’s electorate is expected to become more intense as the 2027 election approaches.
