The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suffered a major political setback in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State after members of the party in Shawo Central Ward defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors include party members from the home ward of Senator Lola Ashiru, who represents Kwara South Senatorial District.
The group, led by Comrade Ezekiel Adepoju, announced its defection in Offa, citing confidence in the leadership of former Senate President and PDP chieftain Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The defectors said they had concluded that the PDP offered a more promising political platform for the future of Offa and Kwara State.
The development could further reshape the political calculations in Kwara South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
