Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been honoured with the traditional title ‘Oso Di Eme 1’ in Imo State, in recognition of her public service and contributions to women-focused initiatives.
The title was conferred on the First Lady during a women’s empowerment programme held in the state on Wednesday.
The development adds another traditional honour to Oluremi Tinubu’s growing public profile, particularly around her advocacy for women, children and vulnerable groups.
The First Lady has in recent months been involved in several federal social intervention initiatives, including programmes focused on nutrition, women’s empowerment and support for vulnerable Nigerians.
The Imo ceremony also brought together stakeholders from the state’s traditional and political communities.
The title, Oso Di Eme, is an Igbo expression broadly associated with a person whose actions or presence bring achievement or distinction.
Reports from the event identified the newly conferred title as Oso Di Eme 1, further cementing the First Lady’s connection with traditional institutions in the South-East.
The honour comes as the Tinubu administration continues to expand programmes targeted at women and vulnerable communities across the country.
