The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its readiness to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections, positioning itself as Nigeria’s only viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the opposition party is undergoing major internal reforms while maintaining a formidable grassroots network that stretches across the country.
“The PDP is deeply rooted in every part of Nigeria. There’s no community without our presence,” Ologunagba told journalists. “Our party is organic, resilient, and built on the strength of the people.”
Ologunagba argued that the PDP’s legacy of governance continues to resonate with Nigerians, pointing to past policy achievements and development projects that reached rural and underserved communities.
He said the growing wave of public interest in the party is a sign of the electorate’s desire for credible leadership and a return to stability.
Addressing recent defections from the party, the spokesman downplayed their impact, asserting that the PDP’s core support remains intact.
“Leadership is important, but the soul of a party is its people. Our base is loyal, and they’re not leaving,” he emphasized.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the PDP is projecting confidence in its ability to mobilize nationwide support and present a united front capable of ending the APC’s grip on power.
The party’s renewed message of grassroots empowerment, internal unity, and national reach could play a decisive role in reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape as the countdown to the next general election begins.
