The new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has confidently predicted a landslide victory for the party in the 2027 general elections, declaring the contest a “done deal.”

Yilwatda made the bold statement on Thursday as he officially assumed office at the APC national headquarters in Abuja, following his election by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) at the Presidential Villa.

Stepping in to replace Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned due to health concerns, Yilwatda called for renewed unity among party leaders and members. He likened the APC to a vehicle in need of repairs and described the National Working Committee as the team of “mechanics” responsible for getting it back on the road.

“This is a shared responsibility,” he said. “We’re here to fix this vehicle, drive it forward, and take it to a destination that reflects the will of the people. I see a future where APC becomes the pride of the nation.”

Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, said the party under his leadership is ready to expand its reach and welcome a wave of new members from across the political spectrum.

“Our arms are open. We’re expecting more governors, more senators, more National Assembly members, and grassroots leaders to join us. The APC is growing beyond boundaries. By the grace of God, 2027 is already sealed,” he declared.

In a statement released shortly after Yilwatda’s swearing-in, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka highlighted the chairman’s broad experience in governance and party politics.

“Professor Yilwatda is not new to national service,” the statement read. “He was the APC’s 2023 governorship candidate in Plateau State and served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. He also held roles such as Director of ICT at the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State (2017–2021), and Director-General of the Plateau State Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organization.”

Morka said the party was confident in Yilwatda’s ability to reposition the APC and lead it into a stronger, more united future.

“We congratulate him and pray for wisdom and divine guidance as he begins this new chapter of leadership,” he added.

As 2027 approaches, Yilwatda faces the task of galvanizing support, managing internal dynamics, and rebranding the party in a political climate that’s growing increasingly competitive. For now, he seems certain that the APC’s dominance is far from over.
