After years away from the album spotlight, Nigerian Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage is finally making a grand return. The superstar has announced the release of her much-anticipated project, This One Is Personal, which is scheduled to arrive on August 29, 2025.
This new body of work comes five years after her last studio album, Celia, released in 2020. The long wait has left fans hungry for fresh music from Savage, and the announcement has already set social media buzzing with anticipation.
Sharing the news on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Savage revealed that the 13-track album dives deep into her personal journey, capturing moments of pain, growth, resilience, and self-discovery. She emphasized that the record carries a raw and intimate Afrobeats sound, making it one of her most personal works to date.
Unlike her previous albums, this project features only a handful of collaborations. UK rapper Skepta and fast-rising Nigerian talent Taves are the only guest artists. According to Savage, the choice was intentional:
“This album is my story. I wanted my fans to feel me in every single song. The features I included were deliberate—artists who truly understood the vision and could contribute without taking away from the intimacy. It’s less about chasing numbers and more about creating a real connection,” she explained during a fan Q&A session on X.
The album was recorded across three continents, with sessions held in Nashville, London, and Lagos, reflecting Savage’s global influence while still staying rooted in her African sound.
In the days leading up to release, fans have been using the hashtag #ThisOneIsPersonal to interact with the singer online. Savage has been actively responding, giving sneak peeks into the making of the album and the inspirations behind some of the tracks.
With the countdown now underway, excitement is at an all-time high. For Savage, This One Is Personal marks more than just a return — it’s a bold statement of her resilience and artistry, reaffirming her place as one of the leading voices shaping Afrobeats on the world stage.
