IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was ordered out of the Federal High Court on Tuesday after a tense confrontation with Justice James Omotoso over the court’s authority to hear his case.

The court session, scheduled for the delivery of judgment on terrorism charges filed by the Federal Government, escalated when Kanu challenged the court’s jurisdiction. He insisted that his written submissions be considered by law and rejected any ruling from the court, claiming it lacked authority over his case.

Despite repeated instructions from the presiding judge to remain silent, Kanu persisted in pressing his objection, prompting Justice Omotoso to briefly exit the courtroom. Security personnel were then instructed to remove Kanu from the proceedings.

When court resumed, Justice Omotoso ruled that Kanu would remain outside while the judgment and possible sentencing continued.

The incident underscores the heightened tension surrounding Kanu’s trial and highlights ongoing disputes over legal procedure in high-profile terrorism cases in Nigeria.
