The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on two counts of engaging in acts of terrorism.

Justice James Omotoso, who is presiding over Kanu’s trial, found him guilty on the first and second counts of a seven-count charge filed by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The court ruled that Kanu’s public broadcasts, which included threats of violence and declarations of sit-at-home orders across SouthEast states, amounted to acts of terrorism under Nigerian law.

Following the ruling on the initial two counts, Justice Omotoso has now moved on to deliver his judgment on the third count, with proceedings on the remaining charges ongoing.
