Napoli have included Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen in their pre-season squad, even as uncertainty looms over his future with the Italian club.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is expected to report for pre-season medicals starting July 14, with full training scheduled to begin on July 17 in Dimaro, Trentino-Alto Adige. The camp will run until July 27, followed by a continuation in Castel di Sangro from July 30 to August 14.
The 26-year-old striker, currently on break in Nigeria, is coming off an extraordinary loan spell at Galatasaray, where he netted 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 matches across all competitions. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Turkish club secure both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup last season.
Despite swirling rumours of a summer exit, Osimhen remains under contract with Napoli until June 2026, with the club holding an option to extend it by one additional year. His contract contains a €75 million release clause—though this figure applies exclusively to non-Italian clubs, meaning domestic suitors such as Juventus would need to offer significantly more.
Interest in the Super Eagles striker remains high. Manchester United are currently seen as front-runners, while Chelsea have also held talks in the past. Liverpool reportedly explored a potential player-plus-cash swap, although no formal offer has been confirmed. Arsenal have yet to make a concrete move.
Osimhen recently turned down a highly lucrative €40 million per year offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, though the Middle Eastern club is still reportedly keen on securing his signature before Napoli’s pre-season begins.
According to Football Italia, should a transfer not materialize by mid-July, Napoli will formally notify Osimhen to resume duties with the first team. However, it remains unclear whether he will participate fully in team training or follow an individualized program during pre-season preparations.
With Napoli preparing to return to competitive action under a new era and Osimhen’s future up in the air, the coming weeks could prove pivotal for both player and club.
