The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, has commenced the recruitment process for 50,000 new constables, following presidential approval from Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, announced that the recruitment portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and remain active until Sunday, January 25, 2026. Eligible Nigerians are expected to submit their applications online within the six-week window.
The Commission emphasised that the recruitment exercise will be free, transparent, and strictly merit-based, warning applicants not to make any payments or engage intermediaries at any stage of the process.
According to the PSC, candidates for the general duty cadre must possess a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, in GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualifications, obtained across no more than two sittings.
Applicants for the specialist cadre are required to have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, with additional conditions such as a minimum of three years’ experience and relevant Trade Test certifications.
The Commission further stated that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, medically and physically fit, and fall within specific age brackets: 18–25 years for general duty and 18–28 years for specialist positions. Height requirements for general duty applicants were also outlined—1.67m for males and 1.64m for females.
The PSC noted that further details, including documentation requirements and portal access links, would be made available once the application window officially opens.
