Thai Immigration Police have arrested a Nigerian man in Bangkok after a covert operation led to the seizure of 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine allegedly being supplied to foreign tourists. The suspect, identified as Chibuike, was apprehended at a condominium on Soi Inthamara 25 on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, following an intelligence-driven investigation by Division 1 of the Investigation Bureau.

The arrest was announced on Thursday during a press briefing at the Immigration Bureau headquarters in Muang Thong Thani, where Deputy Commissioner Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart briefed reporters alongside senior officers Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanop Warathanachakun and Pol. Col. Ratchot Chotikun. According to the officials, the operation was launched after investigators received a tip suggesting that a foreign man of African descent was distributing narcotics to tourists in the Samsen Nai area of Phaya Thai District. Surveillance teams later confirmed suspicious activity consistent with the information received.

Undercover officers eventually contacted the suspect through WhatsApp and negotiated the purchase of 40 ecstasy tablets and 10 grams of cocaine, valued at a total of ฿102,000. Investigators monitored the conversations closely and arranged a controlled meeting point at a condominium in Soi Inthamara 25. Ahead of the exchange, multiple teams took up strategic positions around the building while tracking the suspect’s movements.

The suspect arrived at the location at the agreed time and was quickly detained after officers confirmed he was carrying the illegal substances. The arrest was made without resistance, and all drugs were seized at the scene. During interrogation, the suspect admitted that the narcotics belonged to him and claimed he had received them from another foreign national of African descent, whose identity he refused to reveal. Police said his confession matched both the undercover findings and the original intelligence report.

He has since been charged with the sale of Category 1 narcotics, specifically ecstasy, and Category 2 narcotics, identified as cocaine. Investigators have transferred him to Bang Sue Police Station, where they are reviewing his digital communication records, including WhatsApp chats, phone data and other electronic traces. Officers are also examining his immigration and travel history to determine how long he may have been operating in the area.

Police have also begun efforts to trace the origin of the seized drugs as they work to verify the suspect’s claims about an unidentified supplier. Authorities emphasised that the investigation remains active and that further developments will depend on evidence uncovered from forensic tests and digital records.

Officials used the opportunity to highlight the importance of public intelligence in disrupting drug networks, especially in areas like Inthamara, a long-established entertainment corridor in Bangkok known for attracting foreign visitors. They added that surveillance in the district will remain heightened and that similar monitoring will be expanded to other busy parts of the city.

The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation, and police say updates will be released only when new verified information becomes available.
