Renowned Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has publicly expressed regret over his decision to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2015 general elections, stating that the ruling party has failed to meet the expectations that inspired his initial endorsement.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Menism podcast, the artist explained that his support for the APC was largely motivated by dissatisfaction with the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he believed was plagued by corruption.

“At that time, I felt the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of those who raised their voices to call for change and the deepening of our democracy,” M.I said.

However, the rapper noted that the APC, now in power for nearly a decade, has not lived up to its promises or his vision for a better Nigeria. “Unfortunately, APC isn’t the APC of my dreams,” he admitted, describing his support for the party as a miscalculation made in good faith.

His comments followed backlash on social media after he tweeted about a violent incident in Benue State. Users reminded him of his previous public support for the APC. Responding to the criticism, M.I acknowledged the concerns and took responsibility for his past stance, stating, “As a human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong sometimes.”

Now, the award-winning musician says his focus has shifted toward using his platform and voice to contribute meaningfully to national development, particularly by working with young Nigerians committed to reshaping the country’s future.
