The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of eight individuals suspected to be involved in facilitating suicide bombings in the North-East, following coordinated intelligence-led operations by troops of Operation HADIN KAI.

In a statement released on Monday, the Joint Task Force said two of those arrested are believed to be central figures in a network responsible for supplying materials used in the construction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

According to the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, security personnel conducted targeted raids on the suspects’ residence, where several items were recovered. These include cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, identification documents, jewellery, and other personal belongings. The items are currently undergoing forensic examination to aid ongoing investigations.

Military authorities disclosed that during preliminary identification procedures, a suspect already in custody identified the two principal suspects as key suppliers of materials used in preparing explosive devices.

The Army further revealed that other occupants of the residence were also linked to the terror network. All suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to extract additional intelligence before being handed over to relevant agencies for further investigation.

In a separate but related operation, troops of Operation HADIN KAI intercepted a large cache of suspected terrorist logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on January 4, 2026.

During the operation, soldiers recovered 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), estimated at about 1,125 litres, believed to have been smuggled for use by terrorist elements. The suppliers reportedly abandoned the fuel and fled after sighting the troops.

The seized petroleum products have since been secured by the military, pending further action.
