Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega has launched a grassroots football clinic in Benue State aimed at identifying and developing young football talents, particularly girls, across the state.
The initiative, organised through the Francisca Ordega Foundation, was held at the McCarthy Stadium and featured intensive coaching drills, technical sessions and mentorship programmes. Ordega led the training personally, supported by international teammates and colleagues, including Super Falcons defender Ashley Plumptre.
Designed for players aged 14 to 18, the programme is being implemented in partnership with Saudi Arabia-based Al-Ittihad Football Club. In addition to grooming young players, the clinic also focused on empowering local coaches with modern training methods to strengthen grassroots football development in the region.
More than 100 participants took part in the sessions, many of whom described the experience as a rare opportunity to learn directly from elite professionals and gain exposure to higher standards of the game.
Speaking on the initiative, Ordega said the clinic reflects her commitment to giving back and expanding opportunities for young girls in football—opportunities she noted were limited during her own early career. She added that investing in grassroots development is key to the long-term growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
The two-day programme ended with a competitive charity match, where Charity Academy Football Club defeated Invincible Angels FC 1–0 to emerge champions, bringing the clinic to a memorable close.
