President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of four ambassador-designates to strategic foreign postings, marking the first set of assignments from the 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate in December.

The postings were announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been appointed ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to the United States of America.

President Tinubu also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.

In addition, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, has been named ambassador-designate to Turkey, a development coming ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to the country next week.

The President has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally notify the governments of the four host countries of the appointments, in line with established diplomatic protocols.

Recall that the Senate screened and confirmed 68 ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Tinubu in December 2025, paving the way for the reconstitution of Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad.
