Actor Rudy Youngblood, widely known for his lead role in Mel Gibson’s Oscar-nominated film Apocalypto, has been arrested in Texas on a drug-related offence, according to law enforcement records.

Youngblood was taken into custody on Thursday, January 22, following the execution of a warrant issued a day earlier in Bell County. He is currently being held at the Henderson County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance weighing between one and four grams.

The offence is classified as a felony under Texas law and carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, as well as a fine that could reach $10,000.

As of Friday morning, the actor remained in custody. Authorities had yet to release further details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest at the time of reporting.

The latest development adds to a string of legal issues involving the actor. In October 2025, Youngblood was arrested in connection with an alleged assault involving a family or household member, accused of impeding breathing or circulation. He was also arrested in Miami in 2017 for disorderly intoxication, although those charges were later dismissed.

Youngblood rose to international prominence for his portrayal of Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto, a role that brought him widespread recognition. Since then, he has appeared in several film projects, including Dandelion Season (2021) and The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine (2023). He was also cast in the period drama La Matadora last year and is reportedly attached to multiple upcoming productions.
