President insists Nigeria’s security crisis will not derail his administration as government intensifies counterterrorism efforts
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will not be forced out of office by Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, insisting that terrorism and insecurity will not define the success or failure of his administration.
The President made the remarks while addressing security concerns during a national briefing, where he reaffirmed his commitment to stabilising the country and strengthening national security architecture.
“I will not be forced out. Insecurity will not end my presidency,” Tinubu was quoted as saying, stressing that his administration remains focused on restoring peace and protecting citizens across all regions.
He noted that while Nigeria continues to face security threats from banditry, terrorism, and communal conflicts, significant investments are being made in intelligence, military operations, and inter-agency coordination to address the situation.
The President also emphasized that security agencies have been given stronger operational support, including expanded surveillance capacity and renewed collaboration with regional partners to combat cross-border criminal networks.
Nigeria has faced persistent insecurity in several parts of the country in recent years, particularly in the North-West, North-East, and North-Central regions, where armed groups and bandit networks have carried out attacks on communities and highways.
The federal government has repeatedly maintained that progress is being made in degrading terrorist and criminal groups, although critics argue that security improvements have been slow and uneven.
Opposition figures and civil society groups have continued to call for more decisive action, particularly in addressing rural insecurity and mass displacement in affected states.
Tinubu’s statement reinforces his administration’s position that governance will continue despite security challenges, with intensified efforts to restore stability nationwide.
