Fresh political firestorm erupts as ADC accuses APC governors of turning governance into a 2027 campaign machine.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised serious allegations against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing some governors of allegedly diverting public resources and FAAC allocations to support President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election campaign.

The opposition party claimed the development reflects what it described as the dangerous politicisation of governance, alleging that state resources are increasingly being channelled into early campaign mobilisation instead of public welfare and development.

According to the ADC, reports of internal disagreements among APC governors over campaign financing arrangements exposed what it called a growing “fundraising machine” operating within government circles ahead of the next presidential election.

The accusations are expected to intensify political tensions across the country as conversations around Tinubu’s second-term ambition continue gaining momentum barely midway into the current administration.

While the APC has yet to officially respond to the allegations, political analysts say the claims could deepen opposition attacks against the ruling party amid ongoing economic hardship, inflation and public dissatisfaction in several sectors.

The controversy has already triggered heated reactions online, with Nigerians divided over whether public funds are increasingly being weaponised for political survival ahead of 2027.
