President Bola Tinubu received Madagascar’s President, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, at the Presidential Villa for bilateral discussions focused on cooperation and regional engagement.
President Bola Tinubu on Monday hosted Madagascar’s President, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for high-level bilateral talks aimed at strengthening relations between both countries.
President Randrianirina arrived at the State House Forecourt at about 2:57 p.m. and was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, before proceeding to a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.
The meeting comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Madagascar, with both countries seeking closer cooperation on issues tied to economic development, regional integration, and continental partnerships.
Officials familiar with the visit said discussions were expected to focus on areas of mutual interest within Africa, including trade cooperation, development initiatives, and broader diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Abuja meeting also follows an earlier bilateral engagement between both leaders during the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, in May, where discussions reportedly centred on expanding economic cooperation and regional collaboration.
Monday’s engagement adds to ongoing diplomatic efforts by both countries to deepen cooperation across sectors considered important to continental growth and regional stability.
