The Defence Minister says Nigeria’s youth population remains central to national security and long-term stability.

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, has called on young Nigerians to take active roles in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Speaking during a public engagement, Musa described Nigeria’s youthful population as the country’s greatest asset, insisting that national security cannot depend solely on military operations.

According to the minister, young people have important responsibilities in intelligence gathering, community engagement, and promoting national unity as part of broader efforts to combat insecurity.

He stated that addressing insecurity requires collective participation and sustained cooperation between citizens and security institutions. The remarks reflect growing emphasis by security officials on community involvement in tackling threats across different parts of the country.

Musa also noted that Nigeria’s future depends heavily on how its youth population is mobilised toward national development and stability.

The minister’s comments come amid continued security operations against kidnapping, terrorism, and armed criminal groups in different regions of the country.
