Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been re-arrested over allegations that she failed to pay the legal fees of the lawyer who secured her bail from Suleja Correctional Centre.

The actress was allegedly re-arrested on Tuesday at the Suleja prison facility, moments after she was released on bail, less than an hour after reports emerged of a possible plan to detain her again.

Earlier on Tuesday, actor Stanley Ontop had raised concerns on social media about an alleged move to re-arrest Okorie shortly after her release.

Confirming the development in a video shared on Instagram, actress Doris Ogala said she was on her way to the police station following the incident. According to Ogala, Okorie was re-arrested by an unnamed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) over her alleged refusal to pay an agreed legal fee of ₦5 million.

Ogala alleged that the SAN was engaged through a mutual associate to facilitate Okorie’s bail after her initial arrest. She claimed that the lawyer had completed the bail process and made financial deposits on Okorie’s behalf, only for the actress to later deny authorizing the engagement of a SAN and refuse to pay the agreed fee.

“You see, one thing is for someone to cut their clothes according to their size. Angela has been arrested again,” Ogala said in the video. “I’m on my way to the police station now.”

Okorie was initially arrested following a petition by fellow actress Mercy Johnson over alleged defamation. She was granted bail on Friday and had reportedly just perfected her bail conditions before the latest arrest.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Angela Okorie nor her legal representatives have officially commented on the development.
