Nollywood actress and singer Angela Okorie has remained in custody at the Suleja Correctional Centre despite reportedly fulfilling the bail conditions granted by the court.
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday approved her release on bail in the sum of N5 million, with one surety in like amount. The court also stipulated that the surety must be a Level 13 civil servant.
The actress was able to meet the bail requirements following the intervention of several activists and public figures, including Omoyele Sowore, Mama Pee, actor Stanley Ontop, and Randy Peter.
However, her continued detention has triggered reactions across social media platforms, with many users questioning why she remains in custody despite satisfying the court’s conditions.
Clarifying the situation, actor Stanley Ontop explained that the bail process was concluded late on Friday, leaving insufficient time for her release before the close of official procedures.
In a statement shared on his Instagram story, Stanley said all requirements had been fulfilled, but the timing delayed her release.
“Angela Okorie’s bail application has been processed, but after we finished the process, time had already gone,” he wrote. “She will be released from Suleja prison by Monday. All bail conditions have been met.”
The actress is therefore expected to regain her freedom once official procedures resume.
