Nigerian actress and model Annie Macaulay Idibia has addressed the backlash over her engagement with a social media post by Laila Charani, the fifth wife of Senator Ned Nwoko, which criticized fellow actress Regina Daniels.

The controversy erupted after Laila shared a lengthy post on Instagram on Thursday, accusing Regina of introducing her to drugs and describing her as a negative influence. Laila also warned that she would not allow her daughters around Regina unsupervised, claiming the actress was “sleeping with every single girl around her.”

Annie, who is publicly known to be close to Regina Daniels, was spotted liking the post, which triggered mixed reactions and disappointment among fans online.

In response, Annie clarified the situation via her Instagram story, describing the like as a “mistake” and reaffirming her loyalty to Regina. She wrote, “While reading the nonsense being said about my baby, Regina, I liked the post by mistake. Loyalty is everything, and she knows I’ve got her back front, and side. Make una calm down abeg.”

The incident comes amid the ongoing turbulent marital conflict between Senator Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels, his sixth wife. Regina had previously accused the Senator of domestic violence, while he has alleged that she was involved in drug use claims that Regina has denied.
