British boxing star Anthony Joshua has revealed that he may be stepping away from the ring after more than a decade in the sport. Speaking candidly in a recent interview, the former world heavyweight champion suggested that 2025 could mark the end of his professional career.
Joshua, 35, hasn’t fought since his shocking fifth-round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Despite the setback, fans have been anticipating a comeback bout before the year runs out — possibly his last.
During an appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Joshua offered a heartfelt reflection on his boxing journey and his long-standing relationship with MatchRoom Boxing, the promotion company that launched and supported his career.
“Twelve years ago, I signed with MatchRoom, and now, twelve years later, I’ll throw my last punch with them,” he said. Joshua also praised the organization for consistently providing boxers with the chance to shine, calling on them to continue building champions and growing the sport.
While he stopped short of announcing an official retirement, the two-time heavyweight titleholder’s words strongly suggest that the end is near for one of Britain’s most iconic fighters.
As speculation builds around his next fight, fans are left wondering if Joshua’s upcoming appearance in the ring will be a farewell performance for the ages — or the beginning of a new chapter.
