Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has officially registered as the number one member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, marking his participation in the party’s ongoing nationwide e-registration and revalidation exercise.
The governor’s enrollment followed the formal launch of the exercise in Ihugh, his hometown in Mbadede Ward, Vandeikya Local Government Area, where party members and supporters gathered to witness the process.
Governor Alia received his registration slip from the APC State Acting Chairman, Benjamin Omale, after which he addressed party faithful, urging them to take full advantage of the exercise by revalidating their membership at their respective ward secretariats.
He also called on non-members to use the opportunity to join the ruling party, stressing the importance of collective participation in strengthening the APC’s structure across the state.
Recalling the 2023 general election, the governor said the people of Benue had already demonstrated their loyalty to the APC through the ballot box. He noted that the support shown for both himself and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflected confidence in the party’s leadership and policy direction.
“In 2023, you showed the world that Benue is APC. You demonstrated through your votes that you believe in me and in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have remained committed to the promises contained in our policy blueprints,” Alia said.
The governor commended President Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, for initiating the e-registration drive, describing it as timely and strategic for party consolidation.
He further urged members to actively participate, noting that areas with strong registration figures would receive priority attention from his administration, which he described as an APC-led government focused on consolidation.
Governor Alia also directed local government council chairmen and party leaders to support registration officials and intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure broad participation in the exercise across all wards in the state.
