The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has officially registered Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a member of the party, marking his formal entry into the ruling political platform.

A photograph shared by Tony Okocha, media aide to the state APC chairman, shows Governor Fubara placing his thumbprint in what appears to be the party’s membership register. The exercise was conducted on Friday at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The development follows Fubara’s public declaration on Tuesday that he would be joining the APC. The governor said his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was driven by the interest of Rivers people and his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu.

Fubara credited President Tinubu with playing a key role in ensuring he remained in office during the political crisis that engulfed the state, noting that his defection was a show of gratitude as well as a strategic move for the state’s progress.
