Nollywood actress and media personality Ariyike Owolagba, known professionally as Ariyike Dimples, has opened up about the reasons behind her three-year absence from her community church.
Speaking on the Open Up podcast, Ariyike disclosed that the decision followed a confrontation with a church elder over a pencil skirt she wore to service. According to the actress, the elder told her she would “go to hell” for her choice of attire, an experience that left her feeling judged and frustrated.
The matter reportedly escalated when the elder reported the incident to Ariyike’s father, prompting her to send a photo of the skirt to her mother to prove her outfit was modest. Reflecting on the experience, she said the judgment and pressure from the church community led her to distance herself entirely from that congregation.
Ariyike emphasized that her break from the church did not signify a loss of faith. She continues to practice Christianity but now chooses to worship in environments where she feels respected and accepted.
