Arsenal are preparing for potential defensive changes this summer and have identified Rennes’ rising star Jeremy Jacquet as a key target for the future.
The North London club is looking to bolster its defensive options, especially with uncertainties surrounding the futures of Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko. While neither player’s exit is confirmed, Arsenal are moving proactively to secure a long-term replacement.
Jeremy Jacquet, 19, has emerged as a standout performer at Rennes, catching the attention of top European clubs. Arsenal are keen on bringing him to the Emirates but are willing to allow him to remain on loan at Rennes for the 2025/2026 season to continue his development.
Fabrizio Romano, a reliable source in football transfers, revealed that Arsenal have already made an approach for the young French defender. However, Rennes are reluctant to part ways with Jacquet this summer, having only recently tied him down to a new contract in May.
“Arsenal have contacted Rennes for Jeremy Jacquet, viewing him as a defensive addition if Zinchenko or Kiwior departs,” Romano shared on X. “Rennes, however, consider him not for sale this window, following his contract renewal. Arsenal’s interest remains strong, even for a potential 2026 move.”
Arsenal’s transfer strategy under Mikel Arteta has consistently focused on securing young, versatile talents who can adapt to the club’s dynamic playing style. Jacquet fits that profile, and though a deal may not materialize immediately, Arsenal are willing to wait for the right opportunity.
With the summer transfer window still open, much depends on the futures of Kiwior and Zinchenko. Should either player move on, Arsenal will be poised to accelerate their pursuit of Jacquet.
