Armed bandits launched a daring attack on Tarah community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area on Tuesday night, abducting nine residents and injuring one person.
Sources said the assault came shortly after the community vigilante group was temporarily redeployed to nearby Katsira, leaving the village vulnerable. The security gap reportedly emboldened the attackers, who arrived in large numbers.
Quick action from local youths helped confront the bandits, preventing what could have escalated into a mass abduction, according to residents.
The incident has heightened fears among villagers, who continue to feel exposed despite ongoing security operations in Sabon Birni and neighboring communities.
Authorities have yet to comment on the attack, but the local community is calling for stronger security measures to prevent future incidents.
