The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Ningi Local Government Area, recovering a significant quantity of illegal substances valued at more than ₦12 million.
The suspect, identified as Ogbu Simon, was reportedly supplying narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and surrounding communities. Police launched the operation after receiving a tip-off from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity at Simon’s shop.
In a statement, CSP Mohammed Wakil, spokesperson for the Bauchi Police, revealed that a raid on November 26 led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ningi, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, recovered 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam (D5), commonly called “Yellow Voice.”
The Operation Restore Peace (ORP) team, headed by CSP Abdulrazak Fada, later apprehended Simon, who admitted to distributing drugs to multiple markets both within and beyond Ningi.
The seized narcotics, with an estimated value of ₦12.2 million, will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
