Former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has officially called time on his professional football career at the age of 36. The Nigerian striker confirmed the news in a heartfelt message shared on X, reflecting on a journey that took him across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Ideye admitted the decision came with “mixed emotions,” but expressed gratitude for the blessings and opportunities the game had afforded him. He thanked God for his talent, while also paying tribute to his family and friends for their unwavering support throughout his career.
The striker’s professional journey spanned multiple leagues, with stints in England, Greece, China, Ukraine, and Spain. Known for his work rate and ability to find the net, Ideye enjoyed success at club level while also earning recognition on the international stage.
For Nigeria, Ideye made 28 appearances and scored six goals. He was part of the Super Eagles squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2013 in South Africa, a historic moment in Nigerian football.
Although stepping away from the pitch, Ideye assured fans that football would always remain a central part of his life as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
