Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has suffered a major setback after his Twitch account was placed under temporary suspension, barely weeks after a record-breaking livestream with Afrobeats star Davido.

The suspension comes on the heels of a widely publicised broadcast on December 17, 2025, which attracted massive global attention and propelled Carter Efe to the top of Africa’s Twitch rankings. The livestream earned him over 405,000 followers, making him the most-followed African streamer on the platform at the time.

On Monday, the comedian disclosed that Twitch had imposed a four-month suspension on his account, citing violations of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. The platform, however, did not specify the exact nature of the alleged breaches.

The development has sparked widespread reactions online, especially among fans who had celebrated his rapid rise on Twitch following the collaboration with Davido. The livestream had also seen him overtake several established Nigerian streamers, including Shank Comics, and rank among Twitch’s most-viewed broadcasts in recent weeks.

Following the announcement, supporters flooded Carter Efe’s social media pages with messages of encouragement, urging Twitch to reconsider the decision. Some online users have speculated that the suspension may be linked to mass reporting over comments or conduct during the livestream, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Claims that the comedian was banned from other digital platforms were later dismissed.

The suspension has left many fans disappointed, particularly as it coincides with the festive season, with supporters expressing hope that the issue will be resolved and his account reinstated.
