Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United has taken a dramatic turn after the winger reportedly told the club he will not play for up to a year unless he is allowed to join Chelsea.

The 20-year-old Argentine has become one of five players placed in what is being described as the “bomb squad,” a group of unwanted stars told they can find new clubs this summer. His desire to leave stems from growing dissatisfaction with his role under manager Ruben Amorim, particularly after being left on the bench during May’s Europa League final.

Initially, United set a £70 million asking price for Garnacho, but that figure has now been reduced to £50 million in hopes of facilitating a transfer. Sources, including football insider Fabrizio Romano, claim Garnacho has made it clear that Stamford Bridge is his preferred destination, warning the club that he is prepared to spend the next six to twelve months on the sidelines if his request is denied.

Since making his senior debut, Garnacho has clocked up 144 appearances in a Manchester United shirt, scoring 26 goals and contributing 22 assists. His combination of pace, skill, and creativity has made him one of the most promising young wingers in Europe — but his relationship with the club now appears to be at breaking point.
