A Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, popularly known as Fems Thrift, has alleged that she and a friend were sexually assaulted after responding to what turned out to be a fake modelling job offer in the Ajao Estate area of the state.
The young entrepreneur shared her account in a video posted on TikTok, stating that the incident occurred on Sunday, February 8.
According to her, she was first contacted on Instagram on February 1 by a man who claimed he had recently returned from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria. She said he offered her N140,000 for a modelling assignment and requested additional promotion of the brand on her social media platforms.
She said she agreed to the offer after being assured that a full production team, including a make-up artist, would be present at the shoot.
For safety reasons, she asked a friend to accompany her to the location on the scheduled date. However, upon arriving at the apartment around 11 a.m., they reportedly found the premises largely empty.
The man allegedly informed them that the location was a content creation studio and claimed the make-up artist had briefly stepped out.
The content creator further alleged that she was asked to freshen up ahead of the shoot and was provided with a robe to change into. She claimed the suspect later entered the room under the pretext of showing her how to secure the door before the arrival of other crew members.
She alleged that the situation escalated when the man locked the door, threatened both women with a knife, restrained them and sexually assaulted them.
According to her, their mobile phones were seized and they were allegedly forced to unlock private folders, with personal files transferred to the suspect. She said he threatened to release private materials online if they reported the incident or spoke publicly about it.
The women reportedly left the apartment between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. that day.
Calling for justice, the content creator urged authorities to investigate the matter and apprehend the suspect to prevent others from falling victim to similar schemes.
She added that the incident left her with physical and emotional trauma.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the allegation.
