A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu has approved three foreign laboratories to conduct DNA testing aimed at determining the paternity of Liam, the son of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Counsel to the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, Mr Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed the development to journalists shortly after court proceedings.
According to him, the court authorised one laboratory in the United States and two in the United Kingdom to carry out the test. He explained that both parties involved in the dispute selected one laboratory each, while the court approved an independent facility to ensure neutrality.
Ogungbe further stated that all concerned parties would be present during the collection of samples, which will be supervised by welfare officers in line with the court’s directive.
The legal process follows a request by Mohbad’s father for a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Liam after controversies surrounding the singer’s death in September 2023 at his residence in Lagos.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to April 7, 2026, for the collection of samples.
