Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced strong support for fellow Portuguese star Joao Felix following his high-profile switch to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, describing the move as a smart career choice.
Felix, once hailed as one of Europe’s brightest young talents during his breakthrough at Benfica, has endured a turbulent few years in top-flight football. After a blockbuster 2019 transfer to Atletico Madrid, the 25-year-old struggled to replicate his early promise, prompting a series of loan spells at Barcelona, Chelsea, and most recently AC Milan.
Earlier this summer, the attacking midfielder decided to embark on a new chapter by joining Ronaldo in Riyadh — a decision the Al Nassr captain believes will benefit his compatriot.
“Choosing Saudi Arabia over a return to the Portuguese league was the best option for Joao Félix. He made the right call,” Ronaldo told The TouchlineX.
The move marks another major coup for the Saudi Pro League as it continues to attract top-tier European talent, with Felix now set to play alongside one of football’s all-time greats in a bid to revive his career.
