Popular Nigerian comedian and reality television star, DeeOne, has called on the Federal Government to launch a comprehensive investigation into the financial activities of all Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in the country, citing concerns over alleged misuse of funds.

The entertainer made the call in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, where he accused some NGOs of being fronts for criminal activities, including terrorism, kidnapping, human trafficking and other violent crimes.

According to DeeOne, the increasing number of NGOs with questionable funding sources and sudden wealth among their operators should prompt urgent scrutiny by government authorities.

“Federal Government of Nigeria, please investigate all NGO accounts in the country,” he said. “A lot of them are being used to sponsor terrorism, kidnappers, child trafficking and even human harvesting.”

He further alleged that some individuals exploit humanitarian causes for personal enrichment, claiming that rescuing victims has, in some cases, become a pathway to forming NGOs and amassing wealth.

“In Nigeria today, once somebody rescues someone, the next thing is to open an NGO, and suddenly they become multimillionaires,” DeeOne said. “We’re not saying people should not make money, but it has to be legitimate and not at the expense of people’s lives.”

The comedian urged security agencies and relevant regulatory bodies to carry out a thorough audit of NGO finances to ensure transparency and accountability, stressing that genuine humanitarian work should not be undermined by criminal exploitation.

DeeOne’s comments come amid growing public debate over the regulation of NGOs in Nigeria, particularly those operating in conflict-prone areas where concerns about terrorism financing and abuse of charitable platforms have persisted.
