A former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Professor Abdulganiy Raji, has died.
Raji, a professor at the University of Ibadan, hailed from Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and was widely regarded as a prominent figure within the university’s Muslim community.
The news of his death was confirmed on Friday evening in a statement issued by the University of Ibadan Muslim Community (UIMC). The statement described him as a “strong pillar” of the community.
According to the announcement, the late professor will be laid to rest in his hometown of Ogbomoso on Saturday. Members of the UIMC are scheduled to depart the university campus for the burial at 6:30 a.m.
