Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a violent attack on Gyale village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, abducting four residents and looting multiple local shops in a late-night raid.

According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the armed assailants infiltrated the village at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday via the Yankari Game Reserve corridor — a notorious entry point for criminal activity in the region.

Police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed that five provision stores were burgled during the attack before the bandits abducted four individuals: 32-year-old Tasiu Malam Yahaya, 15-year-old Hakilu Ubayo, 28-year-old Abdul Aziz Suleiman, and 16-year-old Rabiu Ganjua. All four victims are believed to have been targeted while operating their businesses.

In response to the incident, Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori-Aliyu immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer in Alkaleri to mobilize operatives, including local vigilantes and community hunters, to commence a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

“Our officers are currently combing the surrounding bushes in an effort to locate and safely recover the kidnapped victims,” Wakil said. “We are committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous crime.”

Authorities have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to tackle the increasing cases of kidnapping and rural insecurity across Bauchi State. The police urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
