The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the country as part of efforts to boost its operations and strengthen road safety management in Nigeria. A total of 61 senior officials, including sector commanders and assistant corps marshals, were affected in the shake-up approved by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
According to a statement issued in Abuja by the FRSC Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the new postings cut across critical areas of the organisation, from Operations, Policy, Administration, and Logistics to Training, Research, Data Management, Establishment, and Medical Services. The Corps said the move reflects its determination to inject renewed energy into its system and enhance institutional capacity both at its headquarters and across zonal and sector commands nationwide.
The Corps Marshal explained that the reshuffle is designed to improve efficiency and service delivery while ensuring the agency remains firmly focused on its core mandate of safer roads and greater compliance with traffic regulations. He called on the newly posted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them and urged road users to cooperate with the appointees in order to sustain the campaign for safer highways across Nigeria.
Among the top-level changes, ACM G. Ntukidem, who previously served as ACM Personnel, has been appointed the new Corps Secretary at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja. ACM J.W. Toby, formerly responsible for Policy in the Policy, Research and Statistics Department, now takes over as Zonal Commanding Officer in Osogbo, while his predecessor, ACM I. Abubakar, moves to the national headquarters as ACM Policy. In the same exercise, ACM A.M. Hassan, who was in charge of Manpower Development under the Training Department, has been redeployed to head the Technical Service Department, and ACM A. Sanusi, fresh from the National Defence College, will now serve as ACM Manpower Development.
The shake-up also affected several state sector commands. CC J.N. Alexander has been moved from Anambra to Delta State, CC Y.T. Etuku was transferred from Kebbi to Kogi State, CC B. Asekhauno has been posted to Anambra, CC R.M.Z. Abubakar to Kebbi, CC D.B. Apaji to Bauchi, while CC A.P. Longkam has been redeployed to Yobe State.
FRSC leadership expressed confidence that the new postings will bring renewed vigour to its activities and further consolidate its mission of reducing road accidents and ensuring safer highways across the country.
