The Ghanaian government has deported 42 Nigerians from the Ashanti Region following court convictions for prostitution, fraud, and other related crimes, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, announced on social media.

In addition to the Nigerians, other foreign nationals were also repatriated, including 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe, and seven from Benin. Minister Amoakohene commended the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism and strict enforcement of immigration laws while respecting due process and human dignity.

He added that the coordinated effort between immigration authorities, courts, and security agencies continues to enhance public safety, protect vulnerable populations, and maintain law and order across the region.

The deportation of the Nigerians comes amid reports of heightened scrutiny and increased arrests of Nigerians living abroad.
