Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
The decision was announced on Thursday, bringing to an end the tenure of all commissioners and special advisers serving in the cabinet. Affected officials have been directed to hand over to the permanent secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries pending further directives.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the outgoing members of the Executive Council for their service to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.
The development was made public in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi.
No reasons were immediately provided for the dissolution.
