Six real estate marketers were abducted on Friday during a land inspection at Oyebola village in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, the police have confirmed.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, who revealed in a telephone interview on Sunday, said the victims were representatives of a Lagos-based property company. They had been transported to the site to assess the land ahead of public marketing and sales.
According to the police chief, the criminals struck while the team was touring the location. “The company brought some marketers from Lagos to evaluate the land and gather details needed to present it to prospective buyers. It was during the visit that all six individuals were taken,” Ogunlowo explained.
A resident of a nearby community had earlier said the incident occurred on Friday, adding that locals were shocked by the attack.
The Commissioner of Police assured that the command has been actively working on the case since the abduction. He expressed confidence that the victims would be rescued, saying efforts are underway to secure their release.
