Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, has said he is unconcerned about industry rankings and public debates over who deserves a place among music’s elite, stressing that fan appreciation matters more to him than charts or ratings.
The Peru hitmaker made the remarks while speaking on an episode of the 90s Baby podcast, where he reflected on how his music is perceived. Fireboy said he does not pay attention to whether critics place him in a Top 5 or Top 10 list, noting that the loyalty and support of his listeners are what truly define his success.
According to the singer, he draws satisfaction from knowing that many of his fans already see him as the best artiste in the world, a sentiment he described as more fulfilling than external validation. He added that he is comfortable with his journey and considers himself a contented person who values genuine connection with his audience over competitive rankings.
