Popular Nigerian singer, Busola Oke, widely known as Eleyele, has opened up about her ongoing financial and emotional struggles following a viral video that stirred concern among fans and the public.
The singer drew widespread attention on Wednesday after sharing a distressing video on social media in which she appeared visibly emotional while lamenting feelings of loneliness, helplessness, and lack of peace.
The clip quickly circulated online, prompting fans and social media users to call on her colleagues and associates to check on her wellbeing.
Speaking during an interview with actress Biola Adebayo on the Talk To B podcast, Oke revealed that she has been battling depression, financial hardship, and homelessness.
According to the singer, the viral video was recorded out of desperation as she struggled with hunger and sought emotional reassurance from her supporters.
“I made the video because I was hungry and needed someone to talk to me,” she said. “I don’t have food to eat and I’m deeply in debt. I just wanted to feel loved and supported.”
Oke disclosed that her financial challenges began around 2020, adding that she has since been unable to maintain stable accommodation.
“My rent expired and I couldn’t renew it. I have been sleeping in different places,” she explained, noting that the burden of debt has weighed heavily on her mental health.
The singer also expressed gratitude to her manager, whom she credited for standing by her during difficult periods.
Her revelation has sparked renewed conversations online about mental health awareness, financial instability among entertainers, and the importance of support systems within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
