The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has admitted that he is not proud of his past, describing his life as a testament to God’s power to transform anyone, regardless of background.
Speaking during day five of the Holy Ghost Congress 2025 at the Redemption City along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Saturday, the 83-year-old cleric said many people never imagined he would become a Christian, let alone a pastor.
Pastor Adeboye told worshippers that no one is beyond redemption, urging families not to give up on relatives they consider too far gone.
“Do you think there is anybody in your family who is too far gone that God cannot save? Do you think there is anybody that God cannot turn into a great vessel unto honour?” he asked.
Reflecting on his personal journey, the revered preacher said his transformation remains a powerful example of divine grace at work.
“I don’t have time to give you several examples, but the man talking to you right now—many people never thought I could be saved,” he said. “Even if I was saved at all, they never thought I could be a pastor.”
Pastor Adeboye added that his past serves as a reminder that change is possible for anyone who encounters God.
“I’m not proud of my past. If one can be bad, I was bad,” he said, drawing loud reactions from the congregation.
His message formed part of a broader sermon encouraging believers to trust in God’s ability to transform lives and use even unlikely individuals for great purposes.
