Newly appointed Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus has set his sights on winning silverware with the Saudi club, stating that helping Cristiano Ronaldo succeed is one of his key motivations.

The Portuguese tactician was officially unveiled by Al-Nassr on Monday evening, taking over from Stefano Pioli, who exited the role after the club’s underwhelming third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League last season.

Speaking shortly after his appointment, Jesus admitted that Ronaldo’s presence played a significant role in his decision to take the job. “If Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t here, I likely wouldn’t be either,” he said.

He added that both the club and its star forward are under pressure to deliver tangible success. “Cristiano is used to winning titles wherever he goes. Al-Nassr has high ambitions as well, and I’m here to contribute to that shared goal.”

While Ronaldo has yet to secure major honours since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Jesus believes that can change. “He hasn’t won much here yet, but I’ll do my best to help him. We share the same language and football culture, which will make things easier.”

Jesus becomes the latest high-profile European coach to join the Saudi football project, as the league continues to attract global attention with marquee players and managers.
